ROCK HILL - Newberry College women’s tennis player Elizabeth Williamson has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday.
Williamson, a senior from Canterbury, New Zealand, went 3-0 in singles play and 2-1 in doubles action last week as the Wolves move to 5-3 overall.
She recorded the Wolves’ lone point against No. 30 USC Aiken with a 7-6, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles.
Williamson and Amanda Carrillo then posted an 8-1 doubles win against North Greenville and an 8-3 doubles victory against Lander. In singles play, Williamson picked up straight-set wins against the Crusaders and the Bearcats at the No. 2 flight.
She is currently 6-0 in singles play on the year. The award is her first Player of the Week honor this season.
