NEWBERRY - The Newberry College women’s soccer team spent a lot of time on the defensive end as the No. 11 ranked Eagles of Carson-Newman had majority of the possession in Saturday night's contest en route to a 2-0 win.
Carson-Newman's (5-0, 2-0 SAC) Lauren Wade gave the Eagles the early lead with a shot off a corner kick that bounced to the left of Wade and dribbled in. The Eagles and Newberry (2-4, 1-1 SAC) would go scoreless for the next 30 minutes until Ashley Hickman scored the second goal of the night for Carson-Newman.
Newberry was held to five shots and two shots on goal in the contest. Alyssa Ortega was able to record three shots on the afternoon, including the Wolves two shots on goal.
