DAHLONEGA, Ga. - Newberry holds sole possession of ninth place after the first round of competition at the LeeAnn Noble Memorial tournament. The Wolves shot 29 over par for a 317 total in 18 holes.

 

Lee University leads the 16-team field with a combined 296 score which is eight over par. Young Harris, North Georgia, Columbus State U, and Lenoir-Rhyne round out the top five. Newberry trails Erskine by one stroke, but holds a three-stroke lead over both Converse and Catawba.

 

Newberry's strongest performer of the first round was Johana Lunackova, who finished the day four over par in a nine-way tie for 16th scoring 76.

 

Taylor Lance came in an eight-way tie for 37th shooting seven over par for 79. Aubrey Guyton finished one stroke behind Lance to close the day tied for 45th.

 

Nabila Inak shot 82 to place 52nd and Brette Bryant came in 84th to round out the pack.

 

The second round of the LeeAnn Noble Memorial will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
