POOLER, Ga. – Newberry sits in 12th position on the leaderboard after the first two rounds of the 2017 Armstrong Pirate Women’s Golf Invitational.
Nabila Inak leads the way for Newberry with an 11-over 155 through 36 holes, just two shots outside a top-20 position. She is first among the nine South Atlantic Conference individuals at the tournament and had a low round of 76 during her first 18 holes.
Annabelle Dallery and Taylor Lance finished their days one stroke apart at 17 and 18 over, respectively. Dallery improved by three strokes during the second round, while Lance lowered her score by six shots as the day went on.
Johana Lunackova rebounded from a difficult first round to shoot a second-round 85, 11 shots better than her previous effort. Lunackova rounded out the Wolves’ contingent as the injury-depleted Newberry squad was only able to field four healthy entrants into the tournament.
Dallas Baptist, which has the top two and three of the top 11 individuals, leads the tournament by 11 shots over second-place Florida Tech. The third-ranked DBU squad shot a seven-under 281 during the second round as the Patriots jumped from sixth to first in the team standings.
Lincoln Memorial, the only other SAC team in the field, is eighth of 12 following the second round. The tournament field includes four of the top 19 Division II teams according to the most recent Golfstat rankings.
The teams will conclude the tournament with 18 holes Tuesday.
