Wolves travel to Wingate for 2018 SAC Quarterfinals

NEWBERRY – Newberry will travel to Wingate, N.C. to face the Bulldogs for the first round of the 2018 South Atlantic Conference Women's Basketball Championship.

WHEN: 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28
RECORDS: Newberry is the No. 7 tournament seed who finished the regular season going 16-11 overall and 11-9 in the SAC. Wingate is the No. 2 tournament seed with a regular season record of 23-4 and 17-3 in the SAC.

  • Head coach Sean Page has two 1,000 career point scorers so far this season; Nicola Handreck (vs. Limestone) and Meg Essex (vs. Queens).

  • Shelby Britten had her seventh 20-plus point game of the season vs. Tusculum, scoring 24.

  • Beat No. 4 (ranked at the time) Carson-Newman at home 68-54.
  • Is the No. 2 seed in the 2018 South Atlantic Conference Women’s Basketball Championship.
