NEWBERRY - Newberry College has announced the Play 4Kay Charity women's basketball game which will take place this Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 6:00 p.m. The Newberry women's basketball team hosts South Atlantic Conference foe Lenoir-Rhyne at Eleazer Arena.
The Newberry community is invited to Newberry College's Play 4Kay day, with proceeds directly supporting women's cancer research through the Kay Yow Cancer Fund®. The local game is part of a national fundraising initiative benefiting the Kay Yow Cancer Fund's support of women's cancer research.
The women's basketball team will wear pink socks and pink shirts for warm ups prior to the game. The team and the college invites Wolves fans to wear pink to show support for Play 4Kay.
20 percent of ticket and concession sales at the basketball games on Wednesday, Feb. 15th will be donated to Play 4Kay. Donation buckets will be present at the ticket table and concession stand.
A pink basketball signed by the Newberry women's basketball team and coaching staff will be raffled off during the event, with all proceeds going to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
Also, the spirit teams will be outside of the cafeteria during lunch hours on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday to raise money for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
The annual Play 4Kay initiative provides coaches and student athletes around the country the opportunity to "come together as one" to raise awareness for breast cancer research on the court, in their communities, and beyond. For more information or to make a donation, visit www.play4kay.org
