DANBURY, Conn. – Newberry designated player Haley Simonds has been named a first team performer by the Eastern College Athletic Conference.
The Maryland native continues to pile up major awards after a breakout freshman season. She had previously been named first team all-South Atlantic Conference, first team all-Southeast Region by two different publications, and a SAC all-tournament team member.
Simonds was a .397 hitter that finished third in the SAC with 12 home runs and a .743 slugging percentage, while her .478 on-base percentage ranked fifth in the league. She had 13 games with multiple hits, 16 with multiple RBI, and ended the game on an 18-game reached base streak.
