Dr. Parrish grew up in Orlando, Florida where he always had a fascination with science. After finishing his chemistry major at Furman he continued his work at the University of Florida where he studied small, highly reactive inorganic molecules and energy transfer processes in photosynthetic bacteria. Dr. Parrish started his teaching career at a sister Lutheran College just outside of Omaha, Nebraska before coming to Newberry to coordinate the forensic chemistry program.
Currently Dr. Parrish is researching cadmium selenium nanorods as a scaffold on which to construct molecular sensors. When not at work Dr. Parrish enjoys traveling with his wife Julie and golfing.
