Men finish in 16th, women place four at Royals XC Challenge

NEWBERRY - The Newberry men’s cross country team ran to a 16th place finish and the women had four individuals run so they did not post a team score in the Non-Division I race at the Royals XC Challenge.

Nathan Collier led the way and posted the best finish of the day in 47th with a time of 27:33.33. Charlie Cook also had a great finish as he crossed in 58th with a time of 27:52.6. In 115th was Peter Hackett who had a 29:18.9 finish. Rounding out the pack was Alex Holshoe in 124th at 29:35.6 and Austin Weaver in 163rd at 31:11.16.

The other runners for Newberry outside of the top five included Connor Roudabush who placed 172nd at 31:36.4 and Taylor Dennard in 208th at 35:29.4. The Wolves placed 16th out of a total of 25 teams.

For the women, they were led by Andrea Morrell who posted a 22:39.6 and that was good for 146th place. Right behind her in 147th was Danielle Cruz who ran a 22:40.1. Kelley Strong finished in 204th with a 24:30 and Rebecca Burkhard finished with a time of 25:09.4 and placed 217th.

Newberry will participate in the SAC Championships on Nov. 8th in Salisbury, N.C.
