NEWBERRY- Newberry Wolves men’s cross country team finished 11th overall at the USC Upstate Invitational and in first place out of the participating DII Schools. The women finished in 17th place.
The men finished ahead of Lees-Mcrae as well as DI programs Wofford, Charleston Southern, and Presbyterian with an average time of 29:38.70 and a total time of 148:13.53. The women finished with an average of 23:08.06 and a total time of 115:40.33.
The men were paced by leading runner and senior Nathan Collier who finished 62nd overall with a time of 27:49.61. Charlie Cook finished 68th 28:18.49 followed by junior Peter Hackett who posted a time of 29:27.11 and placed 78th. Four spots behind him was senior Alex Holshoe at 30:06 in 82nd.
The women were led by sophomore Danielle Cruz who finished 88th with a time of 21:31.94. In 98th was Andrea Morrell who ran a 23:04.12, in 102nd was Romina Adum with a time of 23:29.41. Rounding out the pack was Diana Terrell and Kelley Strong finished back to back in 104th and 105th with a time of 23:44.13 and 23:50.73 respectfully.
The Wolves will take the course again next Saturday at the Queens Royals Challenge at 3:30 p.m. in their last meet before the SAC Championships.
