ROCK HILL – The Newberry Wolves men’s and women’s cross country team took the course again for their second meet of the season on Saturday morning and got a pair of fourth place finishes by both teams.
The men placed fourth out of seven teams in the non-DI Division and were tied with 100 points with third place Catawba but finished fourth due to time. The women placed fourth out of five teams with 93 points.
For the men, they were led by a pair of top 20 finishes as senior Nathan Collier who finished 12th overall with a time of 28:10.38. Behind him, Charlie Cook placed 17th with a 28:52.18 time. To round out the men, Alex Holshoe and Connor Roudabush finshed 29th and 30th at 30:29 and 30:42 respectively and Austin Weaver not far behind at 32:00. Taylor Dennard rounded out the pack as he placed 39th at 34:09.
The women were paced by sophomore Danielle Cruz who had a time of 21:58.63 as she finished 9th overall. The other five runners for the Wolves finished together in a pack as they took 23rd through 27th place in the meet. Andrea Morrell, Rebecca Eddy, Diana Terrell, Kelly Strong, and Makayln Higgins finished in that order with times between 23:52.67 and 24:24.37.
The Wolves will run again on Oct. 4th at the USC Upstate Invitational.
