Collier's third place finish puts Wolves in third, women place fourth

CHARLESTON - Once again it was Newberry junior Nathan Collier leading the way for the Wolves as he finished third in the Division II field at the Will Wilson Citadel Invitational to lead Newberry's men to a third place finish, while the women raced to a fourth place finish among Division II entrants.

Newberry is scheduled to compete next at the Royals Cross Country Challenge in Charlotte on October 11.

Collier (Weatherford, Texas) finished tenth overall and third among Division II runners with a time of 28:18, followed by junior Austin Sorensen's (Murrieta, Calif.) sixth place finish against the Division II field.

Against the other Division II institutions, Newberry's third scorer was sophomore Peter Hackett (Sumter, S.C.) in 11th at 29:33. Freshman Conner Roundabush (Goose Creek, S.C.) was 15th at 31:06, while fellow freshman Seth Howe (Simpsonville, S.C.) placed 18th at 31:46.

Junior B.J. Young (Jackson, N.C.) was 21st at 32:53 and junior Alex Holshoe (Hopkins, Mich.) was 22nd at 34:42, but did not factor into the scoring.

The Newberry women placed fourth among the Division II field, while led by freshman Kirsten Nottingham (Murrieta, Calif.). Nottingham placed 12th among the Division II field with a time of 21:51.

Junior Kelley Strong (Union, S.C.) was 17th at 23:12, junior Rebecca Eddy (Eugene, Ore.) was 18th at 23:21, freshman Makaylyn Higgins (Easley, S.C.) was 21st at 24:14 and senior Ariel Strong (Charlotte, N.C.) was 23rd at 24:24.

Sophomore Diana Terrell (Greer, S.C.) finished 29th at 27:22, but did not factor into the team scoring.
