Wolves' women sixth, men fourth at CofC Invitational

JOHN'S ISLAND - The Newberry College cross country teams travelled to the Lowcountry Friday evening to compete in the College of Charleston Inivtational, with the women's team finishing in sixth place and the men recording a fourth place finish.

In the women's race, Newberry was led by Rebecca Eddy's 21:56 in the 5-kilometer race to finish in 30th individually. Kelley Strong was 34th at 23:52, Ariel Strong was 36th at 24:27, Hannah Rohrer was 37th at 27:11 and Diana Terrell was 38th at 27:25.

In the men's race, Michael Waltrip cut 28 seconds from last week's 8-kilometer time to finish in seventh place individually at 28:08. He was the only Division II runner in the top 10. Alex Holshoe finished 19th at 30:14, Austin Sorensen finished 20th at 31:18, Peter Hackett finished 21st at 31:24 and Termaine Harvey was 23rd at 32:01.

The Wolves take next weekend off and return to action at the Wingate Bulldog Stampede on September 22.
