Thursday, August 16, 2012

ROCK HILL - The annual South Atlantic Conference preseason cross country coaches' poll was released Wednesday, with the Wolves' men predicted to finish seventh and the women predicted to finish eighth at the conference tournament.

The poll results mirror Newberry's finish at the 2011 SAC Championships, where the men were seventh and the women eighth. The scarlet and gray will be in their first season under the direction of head coach Kelly Revells and start their season on Friday, August 31, at the Eye Opener Invitational in Spartanburg. Newberry returns no all-conference picks.

On the men's side, 15-time defending champion Mars Hill is predicted to repeat, but is only one point ahead of Anderson. Wingate also received a first place vote. [Full SAC Release]

On the women's side, defending champion Anderson is predicted to win the league title once again, only three points ahead of Wingate. The two teams split the first place votes. [Full SAC Release]
