Newberry men, women place 10th at SAC Championships

WINGATE, N.C. - The 2010 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Cross Country Championships were held at Wingate University on Saturday, and the Newberry College men's and women's programs each claimed 10th place.

The Wolves' men posted 219 points and were led on the 8K course by Brad House (Lexington, S.C.), who finished 29th with a time of 26:45. Desbourne Frith (East Orange, N.J.) was 24th, crossing the finish line in a time of 27:10.

Mars Hill won the men's championship for the 14th consecutive season.


The Wolves' women posted 281 points and were led on their 5K course by Melissa Peacock (Charleston, S.C.), who was 35th with a time of 22:02.

Anderson won its first South Atlantic Conference championship in any sport.
