NEWTON, N.C. - The Newberry College men's and women's cross country teams finished in ninth and 11th respectively at the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational on Saturday morning.
The Wolves men's program finished with 191 points and a team average of 30:39.34. Newberry's total time was 2:33:16.70.
Senior Brad House (Lexington, S.C.) and each of his teammates ran personal best times. House was Newberry's top individual with a 15th placement after a time of 27:12.0. Freshman Desbourne Frith (East Orange, N.J.) finished the tournament in 17th with a time of 27:44.0.
Junior Patrick Magwood (Varnville, S.C.) completed the race in 65th with a time of 32:15.1 while senior Jorge Santos (Woodruff, S.C.) finished 68th at 32:43.3.
Junior Christopher Duncan (Clemson, S.C.) ran a 33:22.3 and placed 70th.
The Wolves women's program placed 11th with 271 points and an average team time of 23:51.46. Newberry's total time was 1:59:17.30.
Aside from an injured Hannah Rohrer (Taylors, S.C.), each Newberry women's cross country team member set a personal best time. Junior Melissa Peacock (Charleston, S.C.) placed 28th with a time of 21:12.7.
Senior Whitney Wiles (Iva, S.C.) finished in 50th after running a 22:56.3 while freshman Taylor Campbell (Greenville, S.C.) ran a 23:08.7 and placed 56th.
Freshmen Brook Lynn (Greer, S.C.) and Hannah Rohrer finished 77th and 79th respectively. Lynn ran a 25:37.8 and Rohrer completed the race at 26:21.8.
Newberry's final race of the 2010 season will be the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Championships in Wingate, N.C. on Saturday, November 6.
