Wolves XC runs at Furman Invitational, women place 11th

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Newberry College women's cross country program accumulated 314 points and ran to an 11th place finish on Saturday at the Gene Mullin Furman Invitational.

The Wolves as a team averaged a 25:07.80 5K run led by junior Melissa Peacock. Running a time of 23:02 with an average mile of 7:25, Peacock (Charleston, S.C.) led all Newberry runners with a 75th place finish.

Senior Whitney Wiles (Iva, S.C.) placed 84th with a time of 24:13 and an average mile of 7:48.

Freshman Hannah Rohrer (Taylors, S.C.) took 97th with a time of 26:06. Fellow first year Wolves Taylor Campbell (Greenville, S.C.) and Brook Lynn (Greer, S.C.) completed the race in 101st and 104th respectively. Campbell ran a 26:31 while Lynn finished the race at a pace of 9:01 per mile and a total time of 28:00.

Competing individually, the Newberry men were led by senior Brad House (Lexington, S.C.). With a total time of 28:07 and an average mile of 5:40, House placed 37th.

Senior Jorge Santos (Woodruff, S.C.) finished in 91st with a time of 34:18 while junior Christopher Duncan (Clemson, S.C.) placed 96th with a time of 35:00.

Junior Christopher McMillon ran a 35:32 and finished in 101st.

Newberry cross country will be back in action on Saturday, October 16 in Spartanburg, S.C. to participate in the USC Upstate Invitational.
