WINGATE, N.C. - The Newberry college men's and women's cross country teams each finished in seventh place after competing at the Bulldog Stampede on Saturday morning.
The Wolves men's cross country team accumulated a total of 139 points and were led by senior Brad House (Lexington, S.C.). House ran a 27:35 and finished in third place marking his third top-10 finish of the season.
Freshman Desbourne Frith (East Orange, N.J.) completed the race in 28:17 and grabbed sixth place individually. Sophomore Patrick Magwood (Varnville, S.C.) took 42nd with a time of 34:17.
Senior David Faulkner (Lexington, S.C.) ran a 35:32 and finished 45th while junior Christopher Duncan (Clemson, S.C.) finished in 46th with a 35:56.
The Wolves women's cross country team accumulated a total of 191 with junior Melissa Peacock (Charleston, S.C.) leading the way with a time of 22:44 and placing 12th.
Senior Whitney Wiles (Iva, S.C.) ran a 25:01 to finish 28th and freshman Hannah Rohrer (Taylors, S.C.) placed 41st with a time of 29:08.
Freshmen Taylor Campbell and Brooke Lynn finished 44th and 46th respectively. Campbell ran a 31:33 and Lynn finished the race at 32:18.
Newberry will race next at the Furman Cross Country Invitational in Greenville, S.C. on Saturday, October 9.
