Newberry women's XC finishes sixth at SAC Tournament

CHAPIN, S.C. - The Newberry College women's cross country team finished sixth at the 2008 South Atlantic Conference Championship at Crooked Creek Park in Chapin, S.C. The scarlet and gray completed the race with 175 points in the meet. Lenoir-Rhyne University won the championship with a total of 32 points.

Newberry's top finisher was Jennifer Johnson (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.), who finished in 24th place with a time of 21:21. Also, freshman Rachel Tooley (Fort Mill, S.C.) was Newberry's second finisher and completed with a time of 23:17, good for 41st place.

Carson-Newman's Aubrey Morris (Chattanooga, Tenn.) was the individual race champion with a time of 18:35.

Newberry hosted the SAC event as seven women's teams and eight men's teams competed in the championship.
