Men's and women's XC works Oktoberfest

NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Newberry College men's and women's cross country teams recently volunteered to assist at the sixth annual Newberry Oktoberfest held on October 6, 2007 in historic downtown Newberry.

Head coach Rebekah Dixon's two teams helped with various set-up tasks during the morning hours of October 6. “[The Newberry cross country team's] assistance was one of the elements that helped make the Newberry Oktoberfest an outstanding event,” said Scott Sawyer, Director of the City of Newberry Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Department.

The City of Newberry Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Department organizes the sixth annual Oktoberfest, providing free live entertainment, kids activities, and a very popular food court that included cooking demonstrations on the culinary stage.

The event was one of the most successful of the past six years and brought an estimated 12,000 people into the downtown area.The Newberry Oktoberfest is held the first Saturday in October of each year. The 2008 event will be held on October 4th.
