Newberry's Jack Holden named to preseason All-Conference second team

ROCK HILL, S.C. Ė Newberry College menís cross country landed one runner on the preseason All-South Atlantic Conference team released by the league office earlier today. Junior Jack Holden (Burlington, N.C.) was named to the second team.

Holden turned in two top 25 finishes during the 2006 season, including a season-best time at the Blue Hose Invitational. Churning out a time of 28:50, Holden finished 23rd. Holdenís best placement came at the Citadel Invitational where he finished 20th with a time of 30:17.

The Newberry menís cross country team was selected to finish eighth in the conference as selected by the league head coaches. The Indians received 13 points.

Newberry begins the season at 8 a.m. in Greenwood, S.C. on September 1 for the Connie Maxwell Invitational.
