Taylor Hansen named to All-Conference second team

ROCK HILL, S.C. Ė The Newberry College womenís cross country team landed one runner on the preseason All-South Atlantic Conference squad announced today by the league office. Sophomore Taylor Hansen (Newnan, Ga.) was named to the second team.

Hansen completed a very successful freshman campaign in 2006, placing in the top 10 in four separate events. The highlight of her season came at the Blue Hose Invitational where Hansenís 19:31 time secured first place overall.

Hansen was named to the 2006 South Atlantic Conference All-Freshman team.

The Newberry women's cross country team was picked to finish in eighth in the preseason poll, with 11 points, as selected by the league head coaches.

Mars Hill College sat on top of the poll with five first place votes and 56 points.

The Lady Indians' cross country team begins its season at the Connie Maxwell Invitational in Greenwood, S.C., on September 1.
