Men's Cross Country finishes 10th, Women 11th at Winthrop Invitational

ROCK HILL, S.C. Ė The Newberry menís Cross Country team finished 10th at the Winthrop Invitational Saturday while the women finished 11th in the third meet of the season for the Indians.

Freshman Jack Holden led the men for the third consecutive week, running 31:30 in the 8k race and placing 31st overall. Josh Williams followed him with a time of 33:00. Sophomore Josh Smith finished right behind Williams with a time of 33:06. Louis Fulmore ran 34:07 to finish 62nd and Bobby Burgess ran 37:04 to round out the Indian five.

On the womenís side, Laura Banda also led Newberry for the third consecutive week, finishing 42nd with a time of 23:26. Heather Warren was 50th, running 24:08 in the 5k race. Olga Kuzmenkova finished 67th with a time of 25:31.

The Indians next compete at the Presbyterian College Cross Country Invitational on Sept. 30.
