Newberry cross country adds runner Josh Smith to fold

NEWBERRY, S.C. – Newberry head cross country coach Tony Jasick announced today the signing of Josh Smith of Charleston, S.C., to a letter of intent.  The runner will join Newberry’s squad in fall 2004.

Smith was named All-Region three years, and was the 2003 Charleston County Champion.  As a junior, he was selected West Ashley High School’s Most Valuable Runner.  Additionally, Smith  participated in the 2003 Shrine Bowl Run.

“I’m excited to have a runner of Josh’s caliber joining us as we continue to build our program here at Newberry College,” Jasick said.  “He is the type of quality runner we need to compete for the South Atlantic Conference Championship.”

Newberry College is a proud member of the South Atlantic Conference, a league comprised of eight colleges and universities in North and South Carolina and Tennessee.
