NEWBERRY - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its 2017-18 Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Division II Men's regional rankings for the upcoming spring season.
Sophomore Edison Ambarzumjan ranked 9th in the Southeast Region singles rankings. He is joined by Jose Navarro who came in at the 11th spot. The pair are also featured in the doubles team rankings at the 10th spot.
The Wolves (4-0) have excelled through their fall competition. They edged out North Greenville 5-4 in their season opener, but have shut out the remainder of their opponents.
Ambarzumjan was named first team all-SAC in singles play and second team all-SAC in doubles play during the 2015-16 season. He was ranked as high as No. 15 in the Southeast Region by the ITA in singles last season. The sophomore finished with a 17-5 overall record and a 7-3 mark in South Atlantic Conference play.
Prior to college, Navarro was a six-time Andalucian Champion and Doubles Champion of the Apple Bowl. At the time he was the No. 10-ranked U-18 player in Spain. He comes to Newberry from Old Dominion University. With the Wolves, Navarro has gone 4-0 in singles action and alongside Ambarzumjan, has dominated doubles play.

The Wolves return to action in the spring to face off against the Bearcats of Lander University on Feb. 7 at 2 p.m.
