Brevard, N.C. – Sophomore Fabrizio Bucco broke away from the Tornado defense and put home his second goal of the season as Newberry (4-9-1, 2-6-1) went on the road and defeated Brevard (6-8, 2-7) by a final of 1-0 in overtime.

The Ecuador native put home a shot to the far right post in the 100th minute, grabbing his first goal since putting home a stellar free kick vs. LMU just over a week ago.

Brad Dixon posted five saves for Newberry en route to his second clean sheet of the season. With 95 saves on the season, Dixon approaches the top 10 in the Newberry soccer record book for saves in a single season.

Newberry was outshot in the contest 24-12, however, the Tornados put just five of those on frame. The Wolves put half of their shots on goal, two of which came from Bucco.

Davis Bryan added three shots for the Wolves. Claus Lehland, Cammy Provan, and Eric Brody added two shots apiece to the Newberry total.

Gabriel Garcia led the way for Brevard letting off seven shots in the match. Heath Turner finished the evening with five saves.

The game brought a combined total of 27 fouls. Newberry was assessed two yellow cards in the match, and Brevard added one.

"We struggled to create a lot of chances tonight, but we capitalized on the ones we got," said Newberry head coach Bryce Cooper. "We ultimately got the much needed result which is the most important thing. We'll use it as momentum for this weekend."

Newberry will continue their road trip as they head to Mars Hill on Saturday, Oct. 22. Kickoff is slated for 4:30 p.m.
