Wolves suffer shutout at hands of Lees-McRae
Saturday, September 6, 2014 | by Josh Manck, Assistant AD for Athletic Communications

SALISBURY, N.C. - The Newberry Wolves surrendered a pair of goals in quick succession just before the hour mark in a 2-0 loss to Lees-McRae at Catawba College's Frock Complex on Saturday.

Newberry falls to 0-2-0 with the loss. The Wolves' next contest is on Friday night with their South Atlantic Conference opener at Mars Hill.

Neither team was particularly proficient at putting shots on target, as Newberry goalkeeper Nick Lucido (Lakeland, Fla.) faced 19 shots, but only six were on goal. Newberry launched three shots, with only Stephen Harvey (Kingston, Jamaica) putting a shot on frame.

The Bobcats put Newberry away in the 57th with back-to-back goals from James Galvani. Those were the only shots that made it past either keeper, as Lucido made four saves in the contest.
