Wolves fall 4-0 to No. 16 Limestone
Wednesday, October 30, 2013

GAFFNEY - A first minute goal was all that No. 16 Limestone would need as the Saints toppled Newberry 4-0 at Saints Field on Wednesday afternoon.

Newberry (1-15-1) fell behind the Saints (12-2) early as Lalaina Randriamananter headed home his first goal of the season in the 2nd minute.

The following 20 minutes saw few offensive chance until a 21st minute shot from Limestone was soon followed up by a 24th minute shot on frame by Newberry sophomore Bennett Murphy (Hilton Head, S.C.), which was turned away by Kyle Karagitz. The Saints extended their lead heading into halftime as Joe Pegg scored off a loose ball in the 35th minute.

The second half saw Limestone jump further out in front of the Wolves as Sam Orritt scored in the 53rd minute. Juan Herrera got in on the action for Limesotne in the 81st minute as the Saints goal total reached four.

Murphy and senior Christian Ortiz (Atlanta, Ga.) recorded Newberry's only shots on goal during the match. Senior goalkeeper Patrick Sweatt (Indian Land, S.C.) recorded eight saves for the Wolves.

Newberry wraps up the 2013 season on Saturday at 3 p.m. as the Wolves play host to the Tusculum Pioneers.
