SALISBURY, N.C. - Newberry freshman Julian Feneberg opened his collegiate tally as he scored the game tying goal as the Wolves earned a 1-1 draw at Catawba on Saturday.
Catawba (3-2-3, 0-0-3 SAC) scored early in the opening half as Luke Kooyman beat Newberry (2-3-1, 0-1-1 SAC) goalkeeper Patrick Sweatt (Indian Land, S.C.) in the sixth minute of the match.
The Wolves answered with just under ten minutes remaining in the opening half when Feneberg (Durach, Germany) scored his first career goal to knot things up at 1-1.
Sweatt recorded three saves in the opening half as the Wolves were outshot 5-4 by the Indians in period one.
The second half saw 11 shots between the two teams, before the match headed to overtime. During the two overtime periods the Indians outshot the Wolves 9-1. Sweatt tallied seven saves in the second period, before posting a save in each of the overtime periods.
Junior Stephen Harvey (Kingston, Jamaica) led the Wolves with three shots.
Newberry hits the road once again on Wednesday when the Wolves travel to Wingate for a 7 p.m. South Atlantic Conference meeting.
