Wolves drop 4-0 decision at Francis Marion

FLORENCE, S.C. - Despite goalkeeper Joel Johnson making six saves on the afternoon, the Newberry men's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision at Francis Marion.

Francis Marion (2-9-0) struck first in the 11th minute when Alex Blandin headed the ball past Johnson (Sangre Grande, Trinidad & Tobago) for what would be the game winner. Blandin added an insurance goal in the 15th minute when he beat Johnson one-on-one thanks to a through ball from Cameron Mabee.

Chuy Cruz put a rebound into the goal in the 28th minute, while Adam Dillihay netted the Patriots fourth goal in the 35th minute.

Newberry (5-6-0) was outshot 22-9 in the match, with multi-shot game being recorded by both sophomore Joao Delgado (Atlanta, Ga.) and freshman Kyle Maitland (Columbia, S.C.).

The Wolves return to the pitch on Wednesday when they play host to Catawba at 4 p.m.
