DANBURY, Conn. – Newberry junior Spencer Skiff has been named the Corvais Division II Men's Golfer of the Month by the Eastern College Athletic Conference for his stellar work on the links in the month of October.

Skiff ended the month ranked second only to the University of Oregon's Wyndham Clark in the Golfstat Cup, which ranks all collegiate golfers in the NCAA, NAIA, and junior college ranks by adjusted scoring average. His best event came at the Third Annual UNG Fall Invitational hosted by North Georgia, setting school and tournament records by winning the 54-hole tournament in 201 strokes, 15 shots under par. He helped Newberry to a nine-shot win at 33 under for the tournament.

Skiff also had top-10 finishes at Newberry's other two October events, claiming sixth place at both the Jay Jennison Cup at four under and at the Matt Dyas Invitational at two over. Of his nine rounds played in October, he was under par in seven and carried a 70.11-stroke average. He finished higher on the leaderboard than 95.6 percent of his competitors in October on an aggregate basis and was the top golfer on a Newberry team that ended the month ranked eighth in the Golfstat Division II rankings.

Skiff is the third Newberry men's golfer to earn ECAC Division II Golfer of the Month honors following Tommy Hurst and Ryan Wilkinson's selections in April and May 2015.

Newberry is eligible for ECAC awards because the league serves as the primary conference for the Wolves' field hockey and wrestling programs. The ECAC includes schools from Maine to Georgia and westerly to Missouri.
