ROCK HILL - Newberry College sophomore men's golfer Carlos Leandro has been named to the all-South Atlantic Conference second team, as announced by the conference office Wednesday.

Leandro - a sophomore from Aljaraque, Spain - led the Wolves in scoring average in his first year in the scarlet and gray. He led the Wolves with 10 rounds of par or better on the way to a 73.32 scoring average.

Leandro was especially awesome in the spring semester, finishing in the top 10 of the final four events of the season. He was 10th at the Second Annual Newberry Invitational at The Ocean Course, sixth at the Ralph Hargett Memorial Intercollegiate, second at the Bearcat Golf Classic and fourth at The Trojan.

His season best round came in the third and final round at the Ralph Hargett Memorial Intercollegiate, where he shot a 4-under par 68. His four top 10 finishes led the team this season.

Leandro and the Wolves are ranked 10th in the Southeast Region entering the upcoming South Atlantic Conference Championship, which will be held at the Etowah Valley Country Club this Sunday through Tuesday.
