DAHLONEGA, Ga. - Paced by a 2-under par day by Spencer Skiff, the Newberry Wolves shot an even par 288 in Tuesday's final round of the North Georgia Invitational to finish in seventh place at the 54-hole event.
Newberry's 4-over par 868 (290-290-288) is the best Newberry 54-hole score since an 864 in last spring's Bearcat Invitational.
Carlos Leandro was Newberry's top finisher at a 1-under par 215 (71-72-72) for a tie for 19th. He had four birdies and an eagle in the even par round Tuesday.
Skiff shot a team-best 2-under par 70 on the day to finish in a tied for 26th at +1 for the event (74-73-70=217). Also tying for 26th at +1 was Evan DeGrazia, who was very consistent throughout the event (73-72-72).
Fredrik Fossum carded two eagles in the event and completed the event in a tie for 33rd at +3 (72-73-74=219). Zack Sherman tied for 60th with a +10 (78-73-75=226).
The Wolves were in a field loaded with some of the best programs in the South and Southeast Regions, including five teams ranked in the top 25 nationally in the coaches' poll.
Newberry completes its fall season in three weeks, attending the Division I Wendy's Kiawah Classic, hosted at the Turtle Point GC by Charleston Southern on November 1-3.
