MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – The Newberry College Wolves sit in 12th place after the first two rounds of the Barry University Buccaneer Invitational at the par-71, 6,733-yard Normandy Shores Golf Club on Monday.

The Wolves came out with a slow first round with a 309 but dropped 15 strokes to shoot 294 in the second round of the tournament.

Newberry is 12th heading into the final round, but in a tournament that features six top-20 teams, only 15 strokes separate the Wolves from the fifth slot in the standings.

Lynn posted scores of 292 and 281 to finish in the top spot after the first day with a total score of 573. Nova Southeastern (577), Eastern Florida State (577), Barry (578) and Central Missouri (588) round out the top five spots.

Johnson & Wales (589), Florida Teach (593), Midwestern State (593), St. Leo (597) and Valdosta State (598) finish out the top 10 of the 17-team field.

Ryan Wilkinson (Gallivants Ferry, S.C.) put together scores of 75 and 73 to tie his career low 36-hole score of 148 on Monday. Wilkinson is tied for 25th in the 90 player field and with a solid round tomorrow might also find himself in contention for a top 10 slot as he is just four strokes out of seventh place.

Tommy Hurst (Miami, Fla.) had a rough first round with a 79 but came back to post a 74 in the second round of the day to finish with a 153 and tied for 55th.
