Wilkinson tied for fourth; Wolves in seventh after two rounds of Jay Jennison Memorial

St. Augustine, Fla. – The Newberry College men’s golf team shot a combined 20-over, 595 in the first two rounds of the tightly packed Jay Jennison Memorial tournament on Monday. The Wolves currently sit in seventh place, but only nine strokes stand between second place and ninth place. Newberry currently sits 21 strokes behind leader Flager, who shot a team combined score of -1, 575 in 36-holes.

Senior Ryan Wilkinson had an outstanding day, shooting an even-par 144 (74 and 70) in the two rounds. Wilkinson is currently tied for fourth place, just three strokes behind current leader Zach Horne of host Flagler.

Junior Fredrik Fossum carded a 3-over par 147 (73 and 74) on the day to finish tied for 17th place. Senior Tommy Hurst was nine over on the day and currently is tied for 36th. Fellow seniors John Paul Ferguson and Nick Lussier recorded scores of 155 and 157 to reside tied for 45th and 56th, respectively.

With the tight leaderboard, the Wolves will look to climb up the standings in tomorrow’s final 18 holes. All teams will tee off at 9 a.m., as they are implementing a shotgun start for the final day of competition.
