ORANGE PARK, Fla. - Newberry College junior Tommy Hurst led the Wolves with his second top 10 finish of the season as the scarlet and gray finished in 11th place at the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
Hurst (Miami, Fla.) shot a 2-over par 73 to finish with a three-round total of 215 (+2). That total tied him for seventh place, 13 strokes behind Flagler's Spencer Schindler who cruised to the title.
Ryan Wilkinson (Gallivants Ferry, S.C.) tied for 17th at 219 (+6) and Dixon Walker (Lexington, S.C.) tied for 26th with a 223 (+10). John Paul Ferguson (Travelers Rest, S.C.) tied for 73rd at 242 (+29) and Layton Truax (Savannah, Ga.) finished in 78th at 255 (+42).
As a team, the Wolves were unable to keep up the pace with their Monday scores and came in 11th place with a 54-hole total of 899 (297-293-309; +47)
Newberry is back in action in two weeks at the Club at Irish Creek Invitational just outside of Charlotte on February 24-25.
