NORMAN, Okla. - Newberry College senior Chandler Gruenemeier has been named a 2013 Division II PING honorable mention All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America, as announced Tuesday.

Gruenemeier, who was named GCAA/PING all-Southeast Region earlier this month, is the fourth player in program history to earn All-American honors from the GCAA. This is the fourth consecutive season Newberry has had a GCAA/PING All-American, with Matthew Campbell earning honorable mention in 2012, Daniel Stanley named to the second team in 2011 and third team in 2010 and Ben Lown earning honorable mention in 2008.

Gruenemeier finished his senior campaign just one stroke short of the NCAA Division II National Tournament with a 13th place finish at regionals with a +4 total of 220 in his fourth regional appearance.

He finished his career with a 73.85 stroke average, which is the fourth-best in Newberry program history and the fifth-best in the history of the South Atlantic Conference.

He had a 73.11 stroke average his senior year for the fifth-best season average at Newberry. He had two top five finishes and four top 10s in 2012-13, including a runner-up finish at the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Championships. In 25 rounds, he had 12 rounds of par or better.

Gruenemeier was a two-time all-SAC selection, earning first team all-conference honors in 2010 and 2013 and SAC Freshman of the Year honors in 2010.
