INDIANAPOLIS - Newberry College senior Chandler Gruenemeier has been selected to compete as an individual in the 2013 NCAA Division II South/Southeast Men's Golf Super Regional, as announced by the NCAA Friday afternoon.
Gruenemeier (Jacksonville, Fla.) is listed as the 29th ranked individual in the nation by GolfStat.com, with an adjusted stroke average of 73.05. A first team all-South Atlantic Conference selection, the senior was the SAC Championship runner-up. A total of 11 of his 22 rounds this season have been at or below par, with a pair of top five finishes and four top 10 finishes. This will be Gruenemeier's third appearance at the NCAA Super Regional level, also competing in regionals with the scarlet and gray in 2010 and 2011.
The Super Regional tournament will be held May 6-8 at the Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla., hosted by the Sunshine State Conference and the Central Florida Sports Commission. The top two individuals not with one of the national qualifying teams will advance to the NCAA Division II National Tournament at the Hershey Country Club in Hershey, Pa., on May 20-24.
