ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Newberry College men's golf team finished the Jay Jennison Memorial in a tie for fourth place after a tough second day at the Palencia Club. Newberry and Saint Leo shot +47 (911) for the tournament.
The Wolves struggled Tuesday, though senior Chandler Gruenemeier (Jacksonville, Fla.) rebounded from a rough second round with a 1-over par 73 to finish tied for 10th at 8-over par 224. Jon Weiss (Sumter, S.C.) also tied for 19th at 8-over.
Tommy Hurst (Miami, Fla.) was 29th with a 17-over par 233 for the tournament, while Ewen Donaldson (Edinburgh, Scotland) tied for 35th at 19-over par 235 and Layton Truax (Savannah, Ga.) tied for 38th at 20-over par 236 for the event.
Armstrong Atlantic won the event at 19-over par 883. Barry was in second at 887 and Coker was third at 905.
The Wolves wrap up the fall portion of their schedule next Monday and Tuesday at Lenoir-Rhyne's Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate at the Sea Trail Golf Resort in Sunset Beach, N.C.
