NORMAN, Okla. - Newberry College golfers Matthew Campbell and Daniel Stanley have been named Division II PING all-Southeast Region by the Golf Coaches Association of America, it was announced today.
Campbell, a native of Rome, N.Y., recently completed his junior season as the 2011 South Atlantic Conference Golfer of the Year. Campbell completed 31 rounds, with 11 rounds at or below par and a 73.8 stroke average. He tied for medalist honors at the Honda of Columbia Fall Classic with teammate Ben Lown and won the title in a playoff. Campbell has also earned all-SAC honors in all three seasons of his career, earning first team honors in 2011 after second team honors in 2009 and 2010. Campbell is currently playing in the prestigious Monroe Invitational in Rochester, N.Y.
Stanley, a native of Inman, S.C., completed his collegiate eligibility with his third career all-region honor from the GCAA. He also earned all-region honors in 2008 and 2010 and was a third team All-American in 2010. Stanley won the SAC Championship in 2010 and 2011 and was a four-time all-SAC player. Stanley finished his senior season with 25 rounds, a 72.4 stroke average and 15 rounds at or below par. He ranks second in Newberry history with 100 career rounds and a school-record 72.8 career stroke average. He also recently qualified for the U.S. Amateur Public Links tournament, to be held at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Oregon from June 27-July 2.
