The Wolves carded a stroke total of 290 in the first round, nine strokes behind tournament leader Georgia Southwestern.

Matthew Killen (Yorkshire, England) and Ben Lown (North Augusta, S.C.) each scored a 1-under par 71 in the opening round, which ties them for 13th individually.

Matthew Campbell (Rome, N.Y.) and Trey Dennis (Moncks Corner, S.C.) are tied for 36th individually in the tournament with 2-over par 74's, while Brooks Massey (Lexington, S.C.) shot a 7-over par 79 and sits tied for 79th.

Georgia Southwestern's Craig Gibson is the tournament leader with a 5-under par 67, and the Hurricanes had three players card scores under par to hold a large lead. Newberry finds itself just three strokes out of second place.
