CHARLESTON, S.C. - The No. 14 Newberry College men's golf program completed Tuesday's final round of the Charleston Shootout in 11th place.
The Wolves shot a three round total of 903 (295-306-302; +39) in the Division I, 54-hole tournament held at the par-72, 6,922-yard Links at Stono Ferry golf course. Baylor University won the competition with an 8-under par team score of 856 (285-287-284). Newberry was the only Division II institution in the 15-team field.
Junior Matthew Campbell (Rome, N.Y.) finished in a tie for 12th place after Tuesday's final round with a final combined stroke total of 219 (68-77-74; +3). Senior Ben Lown (North Augusta) rounded out the tournament with 225 strokes (73-77-75; +9) and tied for 33rd.
Sophomore Brooks Massey (Lexington, S.C.) shot a 230 (78-74-78; +14) to tie for 45th while junior Matthew Killen (Yorkshire, England) totaled 231 strokes (76-78-77; +15) to finish in a tie for 50th.
Junior Jon Lussier (Burlington, Vt.) finished in 69th with a three day score of 240 (81-83-76; +24).
The individual tournament champion was Jacobo Pastor from Charleston Southern University. Pastor shot a 209 (68-72-69; -7).
The Wolves next tournament is March 7-8 at The Richard Rendleman Invitational in Salisbury, N.C.
