HAMPTON, Ga. - The Newberry College men's golf program is tied for third place after the completion of 36 holes at the Laker Collegiate Invitational in Hampton, Ga. on Monday.
Playing two rounds on Monday, the Wolves accumulated a combined team stroke total of 576 (285-291; E) at the par-72, 7,107-yard Crystal Lake Golf Course. Newberry trails tournament leader Columbus State University by six strokes (285-285=570; -6) and the University of North Alabama sits in second place with a stroke total of 574 (288-286; -2).
Individually, senior Daniel Stanley (Inman, S.C.) is tied for fifth place after tallying a two round total of 141 (79-71; -3). Stanley churned out eight birdies in 36 holes and trails tournament leader Jake Greer of North Alabama by three strokes (67-71=138; -6).
Senior Ben Lown (North Augusta, S.C.) holds 15th place after Monday completing play with 144 (69-75) strokes and at even par. Junior Matthew Campbell (Rome, N.Y.) shot a 145 (74-71; +1) and sits in 16th place.
Sophomore Trey Dennis (Moncks Corner, S.C.) is tied for 17th through two rounds with a 146 (72-74; +2) while junior Matthew Killen (Yorkshire, England) shot a 152 (75-77; +8) and is currently tied for 37th.
The Newberry men's golf team will complete the final round of the Laker Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday.
