NOBLESVILLE, Ind. - Newberry College junior Daniel Stanley was named to the Division II PING Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-Southeast Region team as announced on Thursday.

The GCAA is the professional association of men's golf coaches. Established in 1958, the GCAA is a non-profit organization is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing its members who participate in men's golf at all levels. Through its established events and programs, the GCAA maintains a goal of increasing awareness and the status of men's golf.

A total of 105 players across eight regions - East, Atlantic, Southeast, South, Midwest, South Central, Central and West - earned all-region honors for 2010.

This is the second GCAA All-Region team selection for Stanley (Inman, S.C.) in his three years at Newberry, earning honors after the completion of the 2007-08 season.

The 2009-10 campaign for Stanley represented one of the most successful seasons for a Newberry golfer culminating in a third consecutive team berth to the NCAA South/Southeast Super Regional. As an individual, Stanley participated in nine tournaments during the season accumulating a school record for season stroke average. Over 22 rounds played at nine different courses, Stanley's average per 18 holes was a miniscule 71.6.

Daniel won his first two collegiate tournaments this season, setting a school record for a 54-hole low at the Bearcat Classic on March 29-30. Stanley shot a 207 (69-68-70; -9) en route to the individual tournament championship.

Less than a month later, Stanley became the second Newberry men's golfer to win a Food Lion South Atlantic Conference individual tournament championship. Shooting a three round total of 216 (73-71-72; E), Stanley paced a field of 45 as Newberry finished second in the team standings.

In the fall, Stanley tied the school record for an 18-hole low after the first round of the State-Farm Laker Invitational in Hampton, Ga. needing just 66 strokes to complete the course. With a second round of 69, Stanley set the Newberry record for an 18-hole low the next day with a 135 (66-69; -9).

A first team All-SAC selection, Stanley finished the season with seven top-20 placements, six top-10 placements, and three top-5 placements as well as an impressive win/loss record of 626-128.
