PANAMA CITY, Fla. - The No. 23 Newberry College men's golf program sits in a three-way tie after the completion of the first round at the Outback Intercollegiate hosted by Catawba College on Monday.

The 36-hole event held at the Hombre Golf Club features a field of 15 teams, including six South Atlantic Conference member institutions. Newberry finished the first day 12-over par with a combined stroke total of 300.

North Greenville University and Georgia Southwestern State University also registered first round scores of 300, while Flagler College holds a 15-stroke lead after a day one stroke total of 285, 3-under par. Cape Fear Community College rounds out the top-5 with a score of 305, 17-over par.

Flagler's Drew Pressentin is the individual leader after the opening round after shooting a 68, 4-under par.
