ATLANTA, Ga. - Newberry College men's golf continued to add to the school record book after the first round of the State Farm-Laker Invitational hosted by Clayton State University in Atlanta, Ga. on Monday.

Two days after senior Sean Collard (Gauteng, South Africa) set a new school record for an 18-hole low with a 66 in the first round of the Honda of Columbia Fall Classic, junior Daniel Stanley (Inman, S.C.) matched Collard's score, 6-under par, on Monday at the Crystal Lake Golf Course in Atlanta, Ga. Stanley sits alone atop the leaderboard after the first round, one stroke ahead of Barry University's Chris Carlin.

As a team, Newberry sits in third place the program's third consecutive under par round. The scarlet and gray shot a 284 (-4) in a first round that was originally scheduled for 36-holes, but was cut down to just an 18-hole day due to rain.

Newberry is three strokes behind tournament leaders Barry University and Georgia College and State University, which each shot 281 (-7) on Monday.

The scarlet and gray received plenty of support behind Stanley's record-tying effort. Junior Ben Lown (North Augusta, S.C.) is in a tie for fourth place with an opening round 69, 3-under par. Freshman Chandler Gruenemeier (Jacksonville, Fla.) is 1-over par and tied for 30th while Collard shot a 76 (+4) and sits in a tie for 62nd.

Senior Brandon Burnside (North Augusta, S.C.) churned out a 78 (+6) and is currently tied for 75th.

Due to the cancellation of the second round on Monday, the State Farm-Laker Invitational will now be a 36-hole event instead of 54 holes.
