EULESS, Texas - Newberry College men's golfer Matthew Campbell added to a strong summer of offseason action from the program's current and incoming members with a top-15 finish at the National Championship of The Collegiate Players Tour.
Started in the summer of 1994, The Collegiate Players Tour is administered by former Southern Methodist University and Odessa College Athletic Director Barry Rodenhaver and features a 12-tournament schedule with events in eight different states. For more information on the CPT Tour, click here.
Campbell (Rome, N.Y.) had a three round stroke total of 218 (73-71-74; +3) to tie for 13th place in a field of 56. Sumin Yu (Rockwall, Texas) took home the tournament championship with a six-under par stroke total of 210 (71-70-69). The CPT National Championship took place at the Texas Star Golf Course in Euless, Texas.
“I am very happy Matthew was able to play in this tournament,” said head coach Brian McCants, “The timing of it, right before the season, will help him retain those competitive juices for in season qualifying.”
