Stanley narrowly misses qualifying for match play at Carolinas Amateur

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Newberry College rising junior Daniel Stanley (Inman, S.C.) narrowly missed qualifying for the match play stage of the 95th annual Carolinas Amateur Championship on Thursday, shooting a 1-over par 72 to finish one stroke over the cut line. The championship is being held at the 6,797 yard, par 71 Country Club of Charleston.

The cut line fell at even par 142 after two days of stroke play qualifying. Stanley shot an even par 71 on Wednesday, but Thursday's 72 put him one strokeover the cut. A total of 31 players plus the defending champion, Ben Kohles of Cary, N.C., advanced to match play which begins Friday morning.
