INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Newberry College men's golf team is ranked 10th in the Southeast Region according to the NCAA Division II men's golf regional poll as released last Friday.
The three conference champions along with seven at-large bids from the regional poll will qualify for the NCAA Super Regionals held in Florence, Ala. on May 3-6.
Newberry is ranked 20th in the nation according to the Golf World/Nike Coaches' Poll and the scarlet and gray are coming off of a sixth place finish at the Ironwood Pirate Intercollegiate; a tournament for Division I programs.
The top-ranked team in region is Columbus State University of the Peach Belt Conference. The Southeast Region is comprised of institutions from the South Atlantic Conference, Peach Belt Conference, and Conference Carolinas.
The scarlet and gray will participate in the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference championship on April 19-21 at the Etowah Valley Country Club in Hendersonville, N.C. A first place finish would automatically qualify Newberry for the Super Regional.
