Newberry B-team tied for fourth place at Tusculum Fall Classic

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. - Newberry College men's golf B-team is tied for fourth at the Tusculum Fall Classic at the Link Hills Country Club in Greeneville, Tenn. after the first round of play was completed on Monday afternoon.

Newberry trails fellow South Atlantic Conference members Tusculum College, Catawba College, and Wingate University by seven strokes after shooting a 290 on day one at the par-71, 6,763-yard course. The Pioneers, Catawba Indians, and Bulldogs are all tied for first place with each scoring a 283.

Individually, freshman Ryan Madigan (Waterford, Ireland) came out of the gate strong with a stroke total of 69, 2-under par, on the first 18 holes and is tied for third place.

Drew Falvey (Murrels Inlet, S.C.), also a freshman, is tied for 25th after shooting 1-over par (73) on Monday while sophomore John Allen Meetze (Chapin, S.C.), junior Sean Collard (Gauteng, South Africa), and junior Brandon Burnside (North Augusta, S.C.) are all tied for 30th after shooting a trio of 74's.

Newberry will continue play on Tuesday morning.
